Insurance and Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, United Healthcare/Optum, Aetna, and BCBS EAP. We understand that navigating insurance can be confusing, and we are happy to check your benefits to help you determine your coverage for therapy. If you have any questions about using your insurance, we’re here to help make the process as smooth as possible.
“I’m not sure if therapy is right for me. Isn’t it just for people who are really struggling?”
Absolutely not. Therapy isn’t just for crisis moments—it’s for anyone who wants support, clarity, and personal growth. Seeking therapy doesn’t mean you’re weak or broken; it means you’re taking steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. Everyone experiences challenges, and talking to a professional can help you navigate them with confidence.
Is therapy available in person or online?
I offer both in-person therapy in Pelham, AL, and virtual therapy for clients across Alabama. Some people prefer the convenience and flexibility of online sessions, while others appreciate face-to-face interaction. You and your therapist will decide together which option works best for you.
How can therapy help me?
Therapy can be beneficial in several ways, depending on your individual needs and goals. Here are some key ways therapy can help:
Emotional Support: A therapist provides a safe space to express feelings, thoughts, and experiences without judgment, which can help reduce feelings of isolation.
Understanding Problems: Therapy can help you gain insight into your behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, which can lead to a better understanding of underlying issues.
Coping Strategies: Therapists can teach you coping mechanisms and strategies to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.
Improving Relationships: Therapy can assist in improving communication and resolving conflicts in personal or professional relationships.
Goal Setting: A therapist can help you identify and set personal goals, as well as support you in achieving them.
Behavioral Changes: Therapy can aid in recognizing and changing unhealthy patterns of behavior or thinking.
Mental Health Management: For individuals struggling with mental health disorders, therapy can be part of a treatment plan to manage symptoms effectively.
Exploring these aspects with a therapist can lead to positive changes in your life. If you're considering therapy, it might be helpful to think about what specific issues you'd like to address or goals you'd like to achieve. Our therapists are ready to support you where you are.
What is the cancellation policy at Bridge Counseling?
At Bridge Counseling and Consulting, I require that clients provide a 24-hour advanced notification on all cancellations. Clients who fail to meet this criteria when canceling will be responsible for paying a $100 late cancellation charge, regardless of what your copay is. Insurance companies do not pay for missed sessions. However, I do understand that emergencies can arise, and will consider emergency cancellations on a case-by-case basis. It is important to note that I have this policy in place to ensure that my time is respected, and that I can continue to provide quality care to all of my clients.
